A conversation with Lauren Reid

Lauren Reid is a curator, researcher and educator. She is Co-Director of insitu collective, Lecturer in Curatorial Practice at Node Centre for Curatorial Studies, Co-Founder of the Project Space Festival Berlin and a PhD Candidate in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Freie Universität, Berlin with the project Thinking Beyond the Final Frontier: Cosmic Futures in Thailand.

Through exhibition-making, writing and moving images, she explores themes that span from extraterrestrial cultures to animism, passing through the Anthropocene, parapsychology and speculative techno-scientific futures. As a curator, she creates immersive experiences that activate all the senses as a method to bring audiences inside the world of a topic, be it outer space, a future nuclear waste repository, or a fictional character.

È co-direttrice del insitu collective, docente in ‘Curatorial Practice’ presso il Node Center for Curatorial Studies, co-fondatrice del ‘Project Space Festival Berlin’ e PhD Candidate in Social and Cultural Anthropology presso la Freie Universität di Berlino con il progetto ‘Thinking Beyond the Final Frontier: Cosmic Futures in Thailandia’.

Attraverso la realizzazione di mostre, la scrittura e le immagini in movimento, esplora temi che spaziano dalle culture extraterrestri all'animismo, passando per l'Antropocene, la parapsicologia e i futuri tecno-scientifici speculativi. Come curatrice, crea esperienze immersive che attivano tutti i sensi come metodo per portare il pubblico all'interno del mondo di un argomento, sia esso lo spazio, un futuro deposito di scorie nucleari o un personaggio immaginario.
